... a thirtysomething northerner came back to OKCupid to revamp his profile. It was getting a bit old and worn out, after all. The trouble he found was making it different enough to stand out from the crowd, without also going too far and making it quite bizarre and possibly making him seem rather odd. Then he realised that that was simply a part of his own nature, so what the heck!

... tall, dark (haired, anyway), and ... that's probably enough of that old cliché ... meh ...

I was going to write this in poetry, possibly haiku, or some kind of ballad, but then I figured that would be just a bit too much effort ... That sentence alone is probably the best self-summary anyone could come up with. Meh.

I'm INTP. Again, that pretty much sums me up pretty accurately and succinctly. This should come as no suprise once you get to know me!! I'm an analyst not a manager. I do data, i don't do people. :p This includes dating, by the way, a facet of life that I've never been particularly good at, so I tend to avoid it wherever possible ... easy-going kinky intellectual dorky barefoot girlfriends don't turn up very often :p

... I also tend to think things in a logical and theoretical way. Generally however, people don't work logically. This generally doesn't help ...

Lest you think I'm a dour and self-critical individual ... hold on, who on Earth uses words like 'lest' these days?! Hmm. foot, meet mouth. Yum!. Anyway. Hmmm I wonder what impression this is giving? Someone who's trying too hard to be different ... ?
I'm pretty nerdish, intelligent, not your average sort of jack-in-the-box ... i'm not even called Jack ... have a bit of a fetish for chocolate and mint, I eat pickled chilis out of the jar, i don't like orange (the fruit!) or coconut ... I'm an introvert who has done karaokes while sober, and tend to go away on foreign holidays with the minimum of notice. These holidays mainly involve overnight trains and cheap hotels in far-flung places. And every time I go somewhere, people don't expect me to come back ... I kind of like it that way :D

Oh, and I start to melt at anything over 23 degrees C. I am a cold weather animal. :)

I currently live in Lincolnshire and have recently been setting up my new home.
I enjoy computers, music and keeping myself fit when possible, I like most types of food and I am very easy going.
If my friends were asked to describe me they would say I am shy and quiet, but I do come out of my shell once I get to know the person.
I am very domesticated and like to keep myself and my house presentable. I enjoy cooking and fun days with my children.

Hi, I live in a crappy little town called Mansfield a few miles north of Nottingham. It's not the greatest place in the world but it will do for the time being.

I spend a lot of my free time watching DVDs, I can get quiet obsessive from time to time and have been known to watch an entire series of X Files in one day. The way I think is that, the sooner I get through it, the sooner I can get on with other things! I also have a dream of one day writing a book and getting it published so I spend a bit of time writing as well.

I also listen to a lot of music and now for the last year have had my entire CD collection on an iPod and it is quite scary knowing how much I listen to some songs! The number one played track is a song called The Majority by band called Mammal (if you haven't heard of them, I strongly recommend you check them out) clocking in at 67 plays at the last check. It may not seem a lot to some people but when you consider that it is one song out of just over 7000, it's quite a few plays.

I like piercing and tattoos and have several of both. To be a bit more precise it is actually seven of both. I can promise you that none the tattoos consist of the words 'mum' or 'dad' or any name. This is actually a little pet hate of mine and instead I've gone for more classy things such as a rocket ship, a sprinkle genie and a scene based on Red Dwarf to name a few.

I have my own house, in a very quiet village, own car and job, all my own teeth and hair, no kids or jealous psycotic ex girlfriends to worry about. Well, what can I say about myself other than the fact that I'm not you're average sort of guy. I'm a mix and match, a bit of a throw together of random things that don't normally fit. Heres why...

I am, for lack of a better term, a geek. Have been for a long time and don't plan on changing anytime soon. My degree kind of reflects this, as I am studying Computer Science at Nottingham, but thankfully I will be graduating this year as I've had enough of education! :P I am obsessed with gadgets, especially those tied with my next hobby...

Triathlon. I have been training for nearly a year now and this year will be my first season that I race :) My first race is already booked and will be the Lincoln triathlon, but I'm hoping to do the Southwell triathlon as well depending on when my exams take place!

I DON'T like football, never have. I'd much sooner watch any form of athletics. Can't beat a bit of MotoGP every now and then. I'm also not a big drinker, I especially don't get "wasted" anymore due to bad experiences in the past.. :P Would much sooner sit in a pub.

I'm a keen outdoors person, Iâ??m generally into cross-country mountain biking, for pleasure and in competition; Iâ??d really like to get back into going on long days mountain walking; camping and want to enjoy the shared experiences.

I am occupied by philosophy. I prefer to deal in big or medium-sized ideas like aesthetic value, which is what Iâ??m supposed to be writing about. I consider myself a consequentialist: I think right actions are those that maximise whateverness (I donâ??t know what yet; in practice I probably aim to maximise my own well-being, in an indirect way that involves being quite nice to people). I think capitalism might be a mistake. I think adulthood begins at around 12 years old. I smoke marijuana every chance I get. I sit in my house for days on end and stare at the roses in the closet. I steal lines from Allen Ginsberg poems.

In the future I intend to be a decent writer living in a city or the country (or the cunty, which is a mixture of the two, rather like where I grew up in Sheffield). I will maybe hopefully have a permanent teaching post at a university somewhere on Earth, and I will divert the rest of my resources towards loving the woman that loves me and dancing gleefully in an unpredictable atmosphere.

I've been told that I'm overly tidy for a guy (until I need to find something then all bets are off) and I care way to much about the little thing in life. I am me, kind of unremarkable. I try to get on with everyone but you can't please all of the people all of the time but for the most part I'm pretty much a take me as I am type of person. I love the theatre, particularly musicals, and I love films but for those of you who expect a person who will be out and about and enjoy themselves that way I'm sorry but I will disappoint you as I can't really spend long times in crowds with music blaring at me, unless its a gig and I'm belting them out with the band.

I enjoy my outdoor live, from walking biking and skiing, i try to ski twice a year and more if time allows. i go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, depends on work etc. Im self-employed so i have to make hay whilst the sun shines but also get time when i want. i have a 5yr old springer called "Ralf" that i work in the winter months, just need to teach him to drive so we dont have to walk to the pub. i like to have a project on-going don't like to get bored. i am happy to go camping or short city break holidays, i do struggle to fester on a beach for two weeks unless there are other activities to do. just been trying to sort out a quick trip away to Canada but all booked up for this year. will just have to wait untill next year. i keep looking at buying a coffee shop, needs to be a nice one by the sea as a retirement plan. life would be little like now drinking coffee, eating cake and getting paid for it.

I also have an xbox and do play a bit but i at the moment i just got a bit pissed off with it. I try to go to London twice a year to see musicals. I also went to New York and saw many on Broadway.

Don't let the MMORPG thing put you off. As I am alone, and don't go out much (due to financial restrictions, which have now been solved!), I tend to spend my time on MMORPG's, more for the companionship of others than for the actual games (as a matter of fact, I have cut down on playing them. I used to average about 4-5 hours a day.... now its 4-5 hours a week! lol)

I'm a quite independent and have lots of interests.
I graduated as an artist but that's kind of a tough one to get on with so in the mean time I'm working as an administrator for a local charity.
As well as trying to get my art practice off the ground I'm usually pretty busy performing with drumming groups, learning to play drum kit, running/training in the gym or persuing my guiltiest pleasure of all (crafts! eek).
I like taking on new challenges, learning new things and chasing my rediculous ideas, even if they lead me nowhere!
Then when I have some time left I like keeping up with friends, listening to music or just kicking back with a good book. I like to keep busy, but i do have an off switch, and my rest time is precious.

I suffer from a bowel disorder called Crohn's Disease, though I 've kept it under control with a good diet for the past 18 months. I am greatly enjoying having put on weight and muscle, and the extra attention I get from my very sexy girlfriend <<VeS_>> ;).

Stereotypical English quaffer of tea. In the short periods between crises I laughingly refer to as 'life', I generally can be found wandering around with a DSLR camera, laughing at people on the internet, or recreationally abusing substances.

The DSLR has currently been sold cos I'm broke. Annoying.

I love to drink, dance and party but can also be found in a corner reading for hours. i like diversity as I think too much of the same thing can be very boring.

Hello there, how are you doing. I'm a country dweller, I don't like going into towns even. In and out as fast as possible, but that would be me on my own. My nearest neighbour is a 1/4 of a mile away. (as I write dogs near here are having a slanging match so its not quiet, though quiet is how I like it).
I like certain tele progs, Monk, QI, Open University Click, Bones some Sci-Fi, Nature, Universe, Science programmes, but mostly on an evening it's this computer or I've nodded off. Get a life you say. Oh, there is the pub quiz once a week and I like car boots.
I'd love to meet someone for a yack, put the world to rights, have a laugh with, and aye well um if it comes up. I can be funny, witty and with it some inevitable sarcasm. I really don't know what to put here, this being my first such outing as it were.

I used to daydream as I watched the scenery pass the windows of the bus on the way to school. I was a superhero leaping hedges and houses and keeping pace with the bus despite the obstacles that the world placed in my way.

I really never know what to write in these things... But i'll give it a shot!
I like sport I play ice hockey and i like to have the occasional footie kick about with my mates. I like going to the pub but I love spending nights in with a movie on and with some munchies cuddled up on the sofa with that special someone! :D

I drink too much coffee, smoke too much, have just moved to Nottingham, am retraining and therefore poor and my new years resolution is to obtain a life, by fair means or foul.

I'm bi, polyamorous and all that fun stuff. I'm not looking to do the HBB thing though, I don't date couples (I guess if I ever find myself separately dating two people who're also involved we should probably talk, but hey) and I'm not looking for threesomes. I'm not particularly looking for another boyfriend at the moment either. Plus I don't cyber, not that adding this is likely to put off the usual pests.

I'm also a complete geek; mostly computer science, though a bit of gaming, maths, what I know/remember of other sciences and so forth are all good. I don't read as much as I'd like to - academic stuff aside most of what I do's sci-fi. Not sure "fan" is quite how I feel about Terry Pratchett, but I've been involved in Pratchett fandom too long to really argue.

I seem to go for the tactile over the visual. I've been described as "charming with a side order of lascivious", and accused of flirting that was so blatant as to become subtle again.

I enjoy science and cereal and devastatingly pretty girls.
